Questions about the Audition!
It really is just a seating audition, nothing more!

Q. Is there an audition?
20050510

A.
Yes, membership in the band is available only through a seating audition. Everyone is welcome to become a member of the Tuscaloosa Winds, we simply ask that you play for us so we can provide music to you that will serve our need for a full and rich ensemble sound. All of our members contribute to the performance, and so we feel that all parts need to have strong players. If you are rusty, don't worry!

Q. Can I still audition?
A. Yes Make up Auditions will be held by appointment on Tuesday, September 2 from 7 - 8 pm. A commitment to participate for an entire season is expected when an audition is arranged.

Q. What will I need to prepare?
A. We ask for only a brief placement audition. Everyone has a place in the Tuscaloosa Winds! Please prepare a short one to two-minute piece (your own choice) and any two-octave major scale ascending and descending. For the scale, please start and end on any note that you feel will comfortably show us your playing range. You want to vary the articulation between the scale ascending and descending (tongue it on the way up, slur it on the way down).

Check in at the Instrumental Rehearsal Hall (IRH) on the second floor. We will give you an information form to fill out and tell you what room you will need to go to for your audition. A large room will be available for warming up.
